About the RoleWe're seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at our Pulp and Paper mill in Tumut. As a Mechanical Engineer - Power Utilities Specialist, you will play a key role in driving the implementation of engineering best practices to increase overall plant efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement proactive and preventative maintenance initiatives to improve asset reliability and performance.
- Execute, design, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment, facilities, components, products, and services for the Engineering department.
- Ensure disciplined focus on predictive and preventative maintenance of mechanical equipment.
- Investigate failures using Root Cause Analysis techniques and design and implement corrective and preventive solutions to eliminate the cause or reduce the likelihood of failure.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory inspections on all pressure vessels/piping and safety valves, and update records accordingly.
- Understand and adhere to all Visy management systems, policies, and procedures, and other regulatory body requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical) with a minimum of 5 years' experience.
- Experience in a 24/7 heavy manufacturing or processing environment, ideally with turbine and compressor experience and/or experience in pulp mill power utilities.
- Strong analytical skills, a high level of initiative, and the ability to work autonomously.
- Continuous improvement mindset, proactive problem-solving with a solution-focused approach.
- CMMS experience.
