Job Title: Senior System Administrator

Cubic Transportation Systems is seeking a highly skilled Senior System Administrator to join our APAC IT operations team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and supporting our customers' production, test, and development infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and progress incident tickets and tasks to completion in accordance with SLAs.
  • Maintain the estate of mission-critical servers running customer applications.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot production faults and make recommendations for the most effective course of action.
  • Provide support to other internal teams, including application teams and DBAs.
  • Proactively monitor servers and related infrastructure.
  • Patching and vulnerability remediation.
  • Plan, document, communicate, and execute planned changes through the change management process.
  • Provide out-of-hours support for scheduled work and on-call support as part of an on-call roster when necessary.
Requirements:
  • Degree qualified in information technology or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Industry certification for Solaris, Linux, Windows, VMware, and/or networking.
  • 4+ years of Windows and/or Linux administration experience, preferably in a medium to large IT environment.
  • Experience supporting, patching, and building VMware ESX environments.
  • Experience providing high availability services.
  • Experience supporting and building server operating systems.
  • Server backup skills.
Desirable Skills:
  • Experience hosting SQL database environments.
  • Knowledge of LAN and WAN-based technologies.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory.
  • Knowledge of Solaris.
  • Knowledge of SAN connectivity to servers.
  • Knowledge of server and networking protocols (TCP/IP, WINS, DHCP, SMTP, ICMP, ICA, SMB).
  • Knowledge of operating system hardening.
  • Scripting (VBS, PowerShell).

  • Great verbal and written communication skills.
  • Disciplined approach to change management and system documentation.
  • Strong abilities writing technology-based documentation.
  • Self-motivated.

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Flexibility to travel when required.
