Job Summary

The Senior Terrestrial Ecologist will play a pivotal role in supporting the Ecology practice across NSW, within our Environment team.

We are seeking a seasoned ecologist with BAM accreditation to take on a leadership role and contribute to projects across the Asia Pacific Region.

This opportunity can be based in any NSW office with flexibility options for work from home.

You will have the autonomy to grow your reputation as an industry leader through conference presentations, professional memberships, and mentoring junior ecologists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice to infrastructure and natural resource management projects for private and public sector clients.
  • Lead and coordinate environmental surveys and impact assessments of terrestrial ecosystems, including flora, fauna, biodiversity, and habitat.
  • Deliver high-quality environmental analysis, research, and field surveys.
  • Produce technical reports for clients and participate in proposal and tender production.
  • Establish a culture of efficient and effective project delivery within Ecology.
  • Manage project delivery throughout the project life cycle, taking accountability for time, cost, and quality.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and implementation of initiatives within the business unit.
  • Nurture client relationships on allocated projects and new opportunities.
  • Promote a culture of high performance, delivery, and continuous improvement; mentor and coach junior team members.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science and/or Ecology.
  • A minimum of 5 years' post-graduate ecology experience, preferably within a consulting, construction, or regulatory environment.
  • Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM) accreditation (or working towards).
  • Demonstrated identification skills in New South Wales flora, fauna, and ecological communities.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant NSW/ACT standards and legislation.
  • A valid driver's license is essential; 4WD experience is preferable.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with clients and develop junior staff skills.
  • Able to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team and encourage collaboration.
  • Strong commercial acumen to manage projects and pursue business development opportunities.
