The Role
We are seeking an experienced and innovative Operations Manager to lead our Digital Identity Services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for shaping Identity and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) services, from request to resolution, and ensuring the security, integrity, and operational effectiveness of our PKI and Directory and Data Management (DDM) services.

About our Team
The Directorate of Digital Identity Services brings together key identity management, Public Key Infrastructure, Smartcard, Physical Access Control (credentialing), network account provisioning and de-provisioning services and systems and security principles for Defence. Our team provides a framework of technology encompassing digital certificates, identity, security, access, and data management essential to ensuring Defence:

  • Identities and resources are appropriately protected.
  • Users are granted appropriate access to Defence resources.

Our Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a multi-disciplinary collaborator who will be able to understand both the tactical and strategic needs of Defence. The successful candidate will support the people and systems in place in DDIS that delivers a highly available and reliable Identity and PKI service. The role requires a strong service delivery focus, a desire to find resolutions for our daily operational challenges, and flexibility to respond to the changing context and shifting priorities as they occur throughout the day.

About the Role
This is a Trusted Role within the Defence PKI (PKI Operations Manager) and represents the team to the PKI Management Authority (PMA) and other relevant parties. Whilst the role suits someone with a technical background, it is not a specific requirement. The role requires a combination of leadership, strong written and verbal communication, service and project management, technical knowledge, and procurement skills. Joint Capabilities Group (JCG) is interested in applicants who can demonstrate an aptitude and ability to develop the skills to become a high performing Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Leading a team that shapes Identity and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) services.
  • Ensuring the security, integrity, and operational effectiveness of our PKI and Directory and Data Management (DDM) services.
  • Representing the team to the PKI Management Authority (PMA) and other relevant parties.
  • Developing and implementing strategies to improve the delivery of Identity and PKI services.
  • Collaborating with other teams to ensure the effective delivery of Defence's identity and access management services.
