Strategic Therapeutic Area Lead

About the Role

The Therapeutic Franchise Head is a key operational expert responsible for developing and executing strategies to drive business growth in assigned therapeutic areas. Key responsibilities include creating and optimizing delivery strategies, working with cross-functional teams to differentiate the company's offerings, and collaborating with stakeholders to achieve long-term business objectives.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Operational Strategy: Develop and implement innovative delivery strategies that leverage the company's expertise in relevant therapeutic areas, addressing specific customer needs and challenges.
  • Collaborate with Business Development and other functions to evaluate and manage new opportunities, drive business growth, and achieve identified targets.
  • Act as an escalation point and governance contact for awarded projects within the therapeutic area, ensuring effective project delivery and strategy implementation.
  • Develop and review project budgets, aligned with the requested project strategy, and with the contribution margin targets and pricing strategy agreed with Sales and other stakeholders.
  • Attend and present at customer meetings, including bid defense and partnership meetings, as required.

Project Delivery and Governance:

  • Act as the company's project champion for awarded projects within the relevant therapeutic area, working closely with Operations Project Delivery Leaders to enable the project delivery team to understand and implement the project strategy.
  • Guide and mentor assigned Project Leads through comprehensive handover of awarded projects, facilitating their understanding of all aspects of the project so they can confidently present the project strategy to the client and internal stakeholders.
  • Define and communicate the project team profile and organizational structure that will enable operational managers to identify and assign team members that can meet the customer's needs and successfully secure the project award.

About You:

Tertiary qualifications in a related science or health care discipline are required. Minimum 10 years global clinical research experience, including hands-on operational project delivery and/or drug development experience. Minimum 5 years global business development experience, ideally in a hands-on capacity but otherwise direct involvement in associated processes e.g. RFP, BDMs, client leadership and relationship management.

Expert experience in one or more operational areas is essential, along with the ability to understand and implement projects within assigned areas of expertise. Up-to-date knowledge and access to information supporting effectiveness as an Operational Strategy lead, including understanding the company's services, product offerings, status, trends in assigned area(s), innovations and advances in clinical trial methodology, and business intelligence.
