Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Laboratory Assistant to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about delivering high-quality patient care and want to make a real difference in people's lives.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing various laboratory duties, including specimen log-in, DNA/RNA extraction, phone enquiries, and reagent preparation. They will work closely with the Lab Assistant Supervisor and Laboratory Management to ensure accurate and timely results.

This is a fast-paced environment that requires strong organizational and time management skills, as well as the ability to prioritize workload effectively. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a commitment to accuracy and quality, and a willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing priorities.

Responsibilities
  • Specimen Handling: Responsible for receiving, processing, and filing specimens in accordance with laboratory procedures.
  • DNA/RNA Extraction: Conducts DNA/RNA extraction using manual and automated methods.
  • Phone Enquiries: Responds to phone calls and emails from patients and healthcare professionals in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Reagent Preparation: Prepares and maintains reagents and supplies as required.
Requirements
  • Education: Completion of high school or equivalent is essential.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a laboratory environment is desirable but not essential.
  • Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a commitment to accuracy and quality, and a willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Qualifications: Full vaccination against specified infectious diseases is required.
