About the Role

The Senior Development Planner plays a crucial role within the Planning and Growth Division, focusing on the assessment of development proposals and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and assess a wide range of development applications, providing technical guidance and mentoring junior team members.
  • Contribute to the preparation and review of key planning policies and strategies, ensuring alignment with the Council's objectives.
  • Utilize expertise to assess and report on complex development applications, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies.
  • Mentor and guide less experienced team members to foster growth and learning.
  • Be at the forefront of policy development and strategic planning initiatives, driving sustainable growth and development.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning, Urban & Regional Planning, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in assessing complex development applications.
  • Strong knowledge of the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979.
  • Proven project management skills and the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent decision-making and critical thinking abilities.
  • Experience in dealing with matters in the Land and Environment Court.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to mentor and develop less experienced staff.
