Community Development Officer

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Community Development Officer.

The role will focus on building and maintaining positive relationships between the community and local government. You will engage with local issues, improve amenity, and develop strategic partnerships with community groups, businesses, and service providers.

To be successful in this role, you will require high level communication and interpersonal skills, along with a proactive focus on quality customer service and a solutions based approach.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing strategic plans and policies
  • Building and maintaining partnerships with the community, service providers, and government agencies
  • Providing high level community liaison and customer service skills
  • Managing complex projects and overseeing their implementation and evaluation

The ideal candidate will possess tertiary qualifications in Social Sciences, Economic Development, Project Management, or relevant experience. They will also have demonstrated skills in project management, event planning, and negotiation, problem solving, decision making, and analytical skills.

In addition to these skills, the successful applicant will require highly developed organisational skills, ability to prioritise and plan tasks effectively, work autonomously, and manage competing priorities, demonstrating a high degree of initiative.

Advanced administrative and computer skills are also essential, along with the ability to maintain accurate records and advanced skills in Microsoft Office and Excel.

A current Class C Driver's licence is also required.
