Disability Support Officer

As a Disability Educational Support Officer, you will work closely with students who have diverse learning needs, providing tailored support to ensure they can access and engage with their coursework effectively. This role is vital in helping to create an inclusive learning environment that promotes equity and success for all.

About the Role:
  • Provide in-class support and/or individual assistance to students with disabilities
  • Assist with learning activities, note-taking, scribing, or use of adaptive technology
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and the Student Support Services team
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of individual learning plans (ILPs)
  • Maintain accurate records of support provided
  • Promote inclusive practices across the learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Deliver high-quality support services to students with disabilities, ensuring equal access to education
  2. Collaborate with teaching staff to develop and implement strategies for supporting students with diverse learning needs
  3. Develop and maintain effective relationships with students, teaching staff, and other stakeholders
  4. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of support services, identifying areas for improvement
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable individual with a strong commitment to inclusion and accessibility in education
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities (preferably in an educational setting)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • A relevant qualification in disability support, education, or related field (desirable)
  • A current Working with Children Check and National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
  • Willingness to travel to multiple locations/campuses
