Job Overview:

The role of Production Director is crucial to the success of our company. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will oversee the daily operations of the manufacturing plant, including production planning, inventory management, and quality control.

You will lead a team of 40 production staff and work alongside the Operations Manager to recruit, develop and train the production team, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.

To achieve this, you will implement and maintain Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives. You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as procurement and engineering, to ensure the smooth running of the manufacturing process.

As part of your responsibilities, you will analyze production data and prepare reports to identify areas for improvement and inform strategic decision-making. Additionally, you will ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily operations of the manufacturing plant
  • Oversee the recruitment, development and training of the production team
  • Implement and maintain Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Analyze production data and prepare reports
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Production Director or in a similar leadership role within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment
  • Excellent project management skills
  • A focus on hands-on leadership and support of 2 Second Lean continuous improvement principles
  • Proficiency in IT and ERP systems
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field
