Sheet-Metal Fabrication Leader

The role of Sheet-Metal Fabrication Leader is crucial in overseeing the production process, ensuring that all fabricated parts meet the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of sheet-metal fabrication techniques and be able to effectively manage a team of tradespeople and apprentices.

  • Lead by example and provide guidance to the team to achieve high-quality outcomes.

  • Ensure that all fabricated parts are manufactured to specifications and meet the required quality standards.

  • Oversee the training and development of apprentices, providing them with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in their roles.

  • Drive team productivity and meet daily production targets by implementing efficient work processes and identifying areas for improvement.

  • Enforce company policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain a safe and productive work environment.

  • Execute the production schedule and ensure that the team stays on track to meet deadlines.

  • Maintain a clean and organized workshop, ensuring that maintenance is upkept to prevent equipment downtime.

  • Monitor job progress against estimated hours and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

  • Promote and adhere to workplace safety standards, ensuring that all employees understand their responsibilities and contribute to a safe working environment.

  • Read and interpret fabrication and engineering drawings, making informed decisions about production planning and execution.

Requirements

The following skills and qualifications are essential for this role:

  • Cert III in Sheet-Metal Trade or similar qualification.

  • Knowledge of sheet-metal fabrication techniques and manufacturing processes.

  • Foreman/Supervisor experience desirable but not essential.

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

  • Strong commitment to safety and quality standards.

  • A positive attitude, team-first mindset, and leadership potential.

  • Forklift License.
