Job Description:The University of Otago is seeking a skilled and experienced professional to create and manage a highly effective alumni network. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in fostering lifelong relationships between the university and its graduates, ultimately driving sustained support for the institution.
This critical position will involve leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of alumni relations strategies aligned with the university's strategic objectives. The successful candidate will have strong leadership and management skills, including the ability to direct and implement policy, develop and execute strategic plans, manage budgets, and lead a team of specialist staff.
Reporting to the Director, Development and Alumni Relations, you will collaborate and build relationships with key colleagues within divisions and departments. You will also provide advice and support to ensure effective engagement with alumni.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive alumni relations strategy to drive engagement and support for the university.
- Lead a team of specialist staff to achieve the goals of the alumni relations program.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to build relationships and secure support for the university.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on alumni engagement and relations.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:
- A proven track record of developing and delivering client-centric programs, ideally in alumni relations or other advancement disciplines.
- Strong leadership and management skills, including the ability to direct and implement policy, develop and execute strategic plans, manage budgets, and lead a team of specialist staff.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Project management skills, with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
