About the Chemical and Biological Metrology Branch

This branch provides measurement standards such as certified reference materials, including pure chemicals, gas standards, matrix materials and DNA standards.

It co-ordinates proficiency testing programs to assist laboratories assess their ongoing quality and performance, houses three of Australia's national testing laboratories for anti-doping, forensic drugs and ultra-trace analysis.

You will work on delivering services across these fields, carrying out research and development to enhance our capabilities in line with national and international requirements.

Your Key Responsibilities

You will use your experience in sample preparation and/or extraction used in an analytical chemistry laboratory to work effectively in a team environment.

You will work with chain of custody protocols and identify and mitigate risks that will impact on own and teamwork outcomes.

You will have excellent attention to detail and ability to work productively in a team and independently to ensure smooth workflow for the laboratory team, while maintaining positive and professional rapport with staff.

You will have experience in the use of laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and/or other related laboratory database systems, and the ability to operate in a paperless laboratory.
