About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to join our team at Rio Tinto in Perth. This role offers a Monday to Friday roster, for a 12 month duration. As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading the setup and management of the Program Management office, overseeing project governance, controls, budgeting, reporting, and team performance while driving continuous improvement and alignment with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and promote project management systems for studies and projects within area of accountability
  • Develop and contribute to project controls guidance and protocols
  • Apply discipline governance and quality assurance across studies and projects
  • Analyse and report progress to plan to contribute to strategic and operational decisions
  • Identify and implement improvement opportunities for streamlining studies and project controls work process
  • Lead development of project control accounts and budget
  • Lead setup and issuance of reports, including estimating, planning and cost control curves
  • Lead development of contingency and change management procedures
  • Lead development of Final Forecast Cost (FFC) and proactive identification of risks and mitigation
  • Manage relationship with project controls stakeholders within the project and within the business
  • Represent or assist the Dept at meetings with wider project and studies teams

Requirements:

  • Commerce Degree
  • Highly skilled in leading transformational work
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with ability to facilitate workshops and written communication skills
  • Advanced working knowledge of project control processes and tools
  • Proven problem-solving skills and analytical lens to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement
  • Effective relationship building skills and ability to influence colleagues
  • Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team
  • Commitment to safety of yourself and the team
