Patent Attorney Role

This is a dynamic and innovative role as an attorney at law with a strong reputation for excellence.

We are seeking a skilled and driven Patent Attorney with a background in technical fields to join our team of experienced professionals.

You will work across a broad spectrum of technical fields, bringing your technical acumen and strategic mindset to support complex matters and contribute to ongoing client success.

The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to build strong client relationships and collaborate with cross-functional teams on both legal matters and business development initiatives.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Drafting patent specifications: assisting senior staff in client meetings, reviewing and construing technical materials and patent documents received from clients;
  • Prosecuting patent applications to grant: clearly articulating to clients the objections raised by patent offices, amending patent documents and/or preparing arguments with a view to progressing a patent application through to grant having regard to clients' commercial and strategic needs;
  • IP strategy: working with senior staff to strategize commercial outcomes for clients, assisting with freedom to operate review and opinion, providing novelty, infringement or validity opinions;
  • Team work: collaborating with law groups and other multi-disciplinary teams, litigation support, referring work, reviewing searches with search teams;
  • Business development: writing articles, attending industry events, co-presenting with senior staff at industry and client events; and
  • Contributing to the firm: providing guidance and mentoring to junior attorneys and assisting with the running of practice meetings.
