Job Opportunity: Mental Health Practitioner

As a mental health practitioner, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational services provided to students in a school setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide expert advice and professional learning to teachers and other wellbeing staff to enhance their capacity in improving student wellbeing, learning, and developmental outcomes.
  2. Develop and implement evidence-based intervention strategies for students with complex needs, collaborating with families and other professionals as necessary.
  3. Collaborate with the school administration to enhance mental health prevention and promotion across the institution, contributing to policies and operational practices that guide the work of others.
  4. Liaise with external service providers as required to provide support to students.
  5. Maintain professional competence through ongoing professional development and attendance at relevant activities.
Selection Criteria:
  1. Demonstrate a high level of knowledge of relevant policy context, evidence-based approaches, programs, and research relating to child and adolescent health and development.
  2. Exhibit the ability to effectively implement and manage intervention strategies addressing advanced and complex cases.
  3. Display strong organisational, communication, and inter-personal skills to work effectively with children, parents/carers, teachers, and professionals in education and health systems.
  4. Ability to develop, lead, and manage programs meeting the identified needs of vulnerable students and parents/carers.
  5. Deliver professional learning to teachers and commit to ongoing professional learning to enhance student wellbeing.
