News and Current Affairs Cadetship Opportunity

We are seeking emerging journalists to join our highly regarded News and Current Affairs division for a 12-month cadetship. As an SBS Journalism Cadet, you will have the opportunity to work across multiple formats including television, radio, and digital, and contribute to our trusted and engaging content.

During your time with us, you will gain hands-on experience researching and pitching original story ideas, producing and reporting content, and taking part in newsroom and field-based training. You will also support coverage of breaking news and major events.

Job Description:

  • Research and pitch original story ideas for TV, radio, and digital platforms
  • Produce and report content across multiple formats
  • Take part in newsroom and field-based training across teams
  • Support coverage of breaking news and major events

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A tertiary qualification in Journalism or a related field, completed by January 2026
  • Experience reporting or producing content for TV, radio, or digital platforms
  • Strong knowledge of national and international current affairs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
