Disability Support Worker Job Description

Job Role Overview

The Disability Support Worker role involves providing individualised support to participants, facilitating daily activities and living skills programs across all services.

This position requires a high level of emotional intelligence, patience and understanding, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering exceptional support services and making a positive impact on the lives of our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support with Daily Activities: Assist participants with daily tasks such as personal hygiene, meal preparation and household chores.
  • Facilitate Living Skills Programs: Develop and implement individualized plans to help participants acquire new skills and increase their independence.
  • Provide Emotional Support: Offer emotional support and encouragement to participants, promoting a sense of dignity and respect.
  • Coordinate Community Access: Arrange transportation and accompany participants to medical appointments, social events and other community activities.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Certificate III or IV in Disability or Aged Care
  • An NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • 100 points of ID (passport, driver's license, Medicare card etc)
  • Police Clearance
  • First Aid + CPR certification
  • Manual Handling training
  • Medication certificate
  • Car Rego and Comprehensive Insurance
  • Covid-19 Vaccinations
Compulsory Training

We require all new employees to complete the following training:

  • New worker NDIS induction module
  • Worker Orientation Module
  • Supporting effective communication
  • Supporting safe and enjoyable meals
  • Covid 19 Infection Control Training by GAVAL
  • Personal protective equipment training
Desirable Qualifications

Prior experience working as a disability support worker and computer literacy are highly desirable.
