Bereavement counsellors play a vital role in supporting children and young people who have experienced a loss due to suicide. As a bereavement counsellor, you will work with clients to provide individual counselling services using a trauma-informed approach. This includes providing support to children and young people through one-on-one sessions, as well as facilitating support groups and workshops for families.

Key qualifications for this position include a tertiary degree in counselling or a related field, along with substantial experience in working with children, young people, and families affected by suicide or trauma. You should also possess strong interpersonal skills, the ability to engage with clients, and solid administrative skills. Additionally, you must be eligible for professional association membership.

The successful candidate will also have knowledge of current theories and practices related to suicide bereavement among children and young people, as well as experience in facilitating groups and training programs. Strong time management skills, flexibility, and the ability to build rapport with clients are essential for success in this role.

The salary for this position is $99,469.50 per annum, pro-rata for part-time employees, plus superannuation. Other benefits include 12% superannuation, tax-effective salary packaging, flexible working conditions, clinical practice supervision, and professional development opportunities.
