Data Stream Graduate Program – Embark on a journey to master data science and analytics in the Australian Government.

About the Role

This exciting opportunity involves working on diverse projects across various government departments and agencies. You will have the chance to contribute to evidence-based decision making, supporting policy development, research, program management, and service delivery.

The Data Stream includes APS and Commonwealth agencies seeking recent university graduates interested in pursuing a career in data. Roles are varied, covering aspects such as:

  • Data Analysts
  • Data Engineers
  • Data Managers
  • Geospatial Analysts

While no specific degrees or disciplines are required, backgrounds in analytics, actuarial studies, data science, demography, economics, econometrics, engineering, finance, mathematics, machine learning, psychology, risk analysis, social sciences, and statistics are preferred.

You will be matched with a suitable position in a participating Australian Government department or agency, offering numerous opportunities to find your fit.

Key Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must possess:

  • Proficient data skills
  • Sound communication (written, verbal, and presentation)
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Research skills (analytical and thinking)

You must also meet the following criteria:

  • Be an Australian citizen
  • Have or will have completed a Bachelor degree or higher by 31 December 2026
  • Have completed your qualification between 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2026
  • Be able to obtain and maintain a valid Australian Government security clearance once accepted into the program
  • Be willing to undergo any police, character, health, or other checks required

The selection process includes an online application, online testing and/or video interview, assessment centre, matching, and offers.
