Geotechnical & Tunnels Division
WSP boasts a robust team of over 400 geotechnical, geological, and tunneling specialists across Australia. Our Western Australia Geotechnical team stands as the largest in the state, comprised of dedicated and experienced engineers, geologists, and geoscientists, all operating from our central Perth location.
You will also collaborate with leading in-house capabilities in geophysics, environmental services, and specialized geotechnical laboratories.
As a member of the national Geotechnical and Tunnels team, you will tackle both large and small technical challenges on geotechnically driven projects, while also having the chance to engage in major initiatives with one of Australia's foremost multi-disciplinary firms in the transport, mining, and property sectors.
Your Responsibilities
In this role, you will take on a leading technical position within our WA Geotechnical team, providing essential technical guidance and oversight for local projects.
Your commitment to delivering top-tier geotechnical consulting services will span across Western Australia and beyond, with opportunities to lead and collaborate on international endeavors.
Your technical acumen and passion will be applied to a variety of projects across diverse industries, including transport, ports, mining, renewable energy, property, and government sectors, contributing to the ongoing success of our reputable local geotechnical capabilities.
You will also play a crucial role in mentoring junior engineers, ensuring we nurture and support the next generation of talented professionals.

- Acting as a passionate and influential leader in Geotechnics, actively maintaining effective networks and industry relationships to achieve business and client objectives.
- Championing our strong health, safety, security, and environment (HSSE) culture, providing leadership in identifying and mitigating high-priority safety risks.
- Offering expert technical advice on complex geotechnical challenges to clients and internal teams.
- Managing key client relationships, developing strategies, technical service offerings, and significant business opportunities.
- Building a reputation as a Technical Leader/Lead Consultant, guiding project teams on consulting assignments.
- Conducting peer reviews, providing expert opinions, and undertaking forensic engineering tasks.
- Establishing a profile as a leading consultant within the Australian geotechnical consulting sector.
Your Profile
You are likely a recognized leader in Geotechnical engineering, with extensive experience at a Principal level or higher. Your exceptional interpersonal skills and industry presence will set you apart among your peers.
Additionally, you possess:
- A degree in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, or a related field.
- Postgraduate qualifications in a geotechnical discipline.
- Chartered Professional status.
- A proven track record of leading project teams to successful outcomes on major projects.
- A history of promoting innovation in geotechnical engineering to deliver value for clients and projects.
- A strong work ethic, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
