Job Summary:
The General Hand role is responsible for assisting in the everyday running and maintenance of the Port Macquarie facility. This includes ad-hoc duties related to the operation of the site and driving a standard of excellence through presentation. The successful candidate will also conduct general housekeeping duties to ensure the workshop is clean and well organized at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure all HSE policies and procedures are followed as part of your duty of care and all incidents are reported accordingly.
- Prepare manufactured components and equipment prior to painting, including cleaning, sanding, minor body work repairs, and masking.
- Assist in loading and unloading of equipment and plant onto courier vehicles and trucks.
- Assist in the pre-delivery of machines with touch-up paint and minor body repairs as required.
- Follow instructions while working under a minimum of supervision.
- Conduct general housekeeping duties to ensure the paint shop is always clean and well organized.
- Maintenance and upkeep of the overall facility and premises to a high standard, including painting, small building repairs, facility maintenance, gardening, weeding, and spraying.
- Minor repairs and maintenance using hand and power tools, cleaning, and rubbish removal, small renovations, fabrication, and maintenance of jigs, fixtures, and tooling used in the manufacture of JLG products.
- General ad-hoc duties as required.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a similar role.
- Ability to use general handyman tools proficiently and safely.
- Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbal.
- Proficient language, literacy, and numeracy, including the ability to write job notes, read safety information, machine manuals, and understand basic numeracy such as time, parts numbers, and quantities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- The ability to follow instructions and take initiative while working under a minimum of supervision.
- Ability to fabricate and weld.
- Strong attention to detail and the desire to do a neat and professional job.
- Strong time-management and prioritization skills.
- The ability to multi-task and prioritize competing requirements and meet deadlines.
Physical Requirements of the Role:
- Standing for extended periods of time.
- Walking.
- Operation of access equipment, including working at heights.
- Lifting, carrying parts.
- Twisting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
- Use of computer.
