About the Research Office

The Research Office is a central unit within the portfolio of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) providing support for research activities across the institution in partnership with faculty research offices and other units.

About the Role

This newly established role leads research integrity and ethics, international business assurance, and the assessment and management of research risk. A key focus is on a whole-of-institution approach enabling responsible conduct of research and responsible research activities.

Reporting to the Director Research Office, you will lead work closely with peer teams across the Research Office and Faculties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Faculty Research Stewardship team.
  • Collaborate with the Director and other Executive Managers to ensure seamless integration of processes and efforts.
  • Develop and implement research stewardship processes, practices, education, cultural change, and awareness programs.
  • Enhance the research culture with respect to research stewardship and a risk/benefit framework.
  • Serve as the primary external face for foreign interference.
  • Manage Team human resources requirements.

Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrate understanding of the current Australian Higher Education environment including legislative and regulatory context.
  • Exhibit strategic planning and research skills with systematic thinking and ability to analyse complex information.
  • Prior experience working in a university, research institute, or governance setting.
  • Demonstrated policy analysis and development skills.
  • Experience managing high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated expertise in building relationships with research active academics and external stakeholders.
