Public Sector People are working with a local council in the western suburbs to recruit a Traffic & Transport Engineer for a 3-month temporary contract assignment.

We are looking for a Band 6 Traffic & Transport Engineer with previous project / Active Transport experience, strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills. This is a 4 month temporary contract with immediate start and hybrid working arrangements.

As a traffic and transport engineer you will be responsible for Transport related projects, reviewing and providing comments on transport, traffic and parking related issues and assisting with the development and implementation of Traffic Management Plans.

Summary

• Band 6 level role
• $55.00 - $60.00 p/h + super (depending on experience)
• 4 month temporary contract assignment
• Council in Melbourne's western suburbs
• Hybrid working arrangements with 2-3 days per week required in the office.

Experience Required

• Minimum 3.5 years of experience as a traffic or transport engineer in a local or state government role.
• Tertiary Degree in Civil Engineering recognised by the Institute of Engineers Australia.
  
  

Key Duties And Responsibilities

• Work on traffic and transport related projects.
• Conduct traffic investigations under the direction of the Team Leader, including LATMs, parking reviews, speeding concerns, cycling facilities, and traffic surveys.
• Respond to customer enquiries and town planning referrals related to transport and traffic matters within required timeframes.
• Assist in developing and implementing strategic traffic and transport plans such as Local Area Movement Plans.
• Review traffic management plans and heavy vehicle permit requests to reduce disruption to the transport network.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, maintaining a strong customer-first approach.
• Work across council departments and with external authorities to deliver traffic and transport initiatives.
