Job Description

The Government Risk Consulting Manager plays a crucial role in our State and Local Government Process Risk and Controls Practice. This dynamic environment provides daily challenges and exciting opportunities for experienced professionals who can draw from their knowledge while continuing to grow their leadership skills.

This key role involves frequent collaboration with state or local government clients' internal audit functions, chief risk officers or risk functions, and various members of management tasked with managing risk.

Our advisors help clients identify and prioritize risk and leverage process and controls to reduce risk exposure for the public. Key responsibilities include modeling RSM values in all interactions, fostering a culture that encourages people to ask questions and challenge others, developing executive presence, and supporting diversity and inclusion initiatives.

As a manager, you will own management-level relationships, interact with elected leaders, directors, and agency heads, and independently implement and coach associates on foundational industry policies, procedures, and work programs. You will also prepare and conduct tests of operating effectiveness, draft test plans, and create/review narratives or flowcharts for processes.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience in audit, internal audit, or related internal control positions
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in business, accounting, or a related discipline
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of public sector trends
