Biochemistry Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Biochemistry Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing expert diagnostic skills in biochemistry with a strong understanding of quality assurance systems.
- Ensuring all work practices and procedures comply with NATA/TGA/NPACC regulations.
- Working with multiple instrument platforms and manual techniques.
- Validating and verifying laboratory-based analytical tasks, clinical result validation, and interpretation.
- Conducting routine internal quality control and external quality assurance procedures.
- Developing a solid grounding in pathology-based IT and quality systems.
- Communicating effectively and solving problems in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrating a high level of personal motivation and application of expertise to achieve challenging goals.
About You
To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the essential requirements:
- Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience, knowledge, expertise, and skills within the respective discipline.
- Sound knowledge of QC, QAP, and troubleshooting.
- Experience validating and reporting patient results.
- Experience liaising with Pathologists and other relevant Health Professionals.
- Experience with Biochemistry Instrumentation.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, develop, and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification.
- Ability to work independently with infrequent supervision.
- Commitment to quality and excellence.
- Willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures.
- Positive attitude toward achieving outcomes and being a cohesive, contributing team member.
- Strong time management, interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
- Ability to cope and thrive in a busy environment.

- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- This role may require additional vaccination history and evidence for department-specific vaccine preventative diseases.
