Senior Information Management Officer Role

The role of this Senior Information Management Officer is to lead key initiatives that enhance the information governance maturity of a federal government agency.

This is a short-term opportunity with the potential to extend, ideal for someone ready to hit the ground running.

About the Job
  • Lead and deliver projects to strengthen information management practices.
  • Maintain and enhance the Information Asset Register.
  • Provide expert advice on records keeping requirements, including for cloud-based datasets.
  • Clarify roles and responsibilities for information governance across the organisation.
  • Review and update record security protocols.
  • Manage sentencing and disposal of records in accordance with the National Archives Act 1983.
  • Maintain system access controls and ensure compliance with reporting obligations.
  • Develop training and communication materials to build staff capability.
  • Draft briefs, procurement documents, and policies related to records and information management.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and contribute to broader corporate services activities.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Information Management: Lead and deliver projects to strengthen information management practices, maintain and enhance the Information Asset Register, provide expert advice on records keeping requirements, clarify roles and responsibilities for information governance across the organisation.
  • Records Management: Review and update record security protocols, manage sentencing and disposal of records in accordance with the National Archives Act 1983, maintain system access controls and ensure compliance with reporting obligations.
  • Training and Development: Develop training and communication materials to build staff capability, draft briefs, procurement documents, and policies related to records and information management.
Requirements:
  • Education: Demonstrated experience and/or qualifications in Information Management and records keeping.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in TRIM / Content Manager, strong communication skills—both written and verbal, excellent planning, organisation, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Australian Citizenship: Must be an Australian citizen.
  • Security Clearance: Must hold a current Baseline Security Clearance.
