Job Opportunity

We are seeking individuals to provide supportive care and assistance to children and young people in residential homes.

These young people have experienced trauma, abuse or neglect and may require mental health, physical or psychosocial support. We are looking for caring and dedicated team members who can work within a therapeutic model of care to provide safety and empowerment.

The primary responsibilities of the role involve providing direct person-centred support and care to young people residing in our homes, ensuring their individual needs are met. This includes crisis intervention and ongoing support, maintaining a safe and welcoming home environment, and empowering young people to develop skills which support them to live a good life within their local community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supporting young people to develop independent living skills
  • Assisting young people to achieve their goals
  • Encouraging young people to engage with their local communities (through school, community groups etc.)
  • Providing daily care and support, including assisting with household duties
  • Transporting young people to and from appointments
  • Supporting connection to family and culture
  • Working alongside other professionals to deliver multi-disciplinary care.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to the safety of children, young people, and people with a disability.
  • Have an understanding of strength-based trauma-informed practice (or willingness to learn).
  • Hold qualifications in Community Services, Residential Care, Welfare or other related areas (Cert IV) (highly regarded).
  • Have previous experience in residential therapeutic care and complex trauma (highly regarded).
  • Be willing to work a flexible roster, including weekends, evenings and sleepovers.
  • Ability to obtain the NDIS Workers Screening Check prior to commencement.
  • Ability to obtain a paid NSW Working with Children Check prior to commencement.
  • Willingness to be registered on the NSW Residential Care Workers Register
  • Complete a National Criminal History Check (paid by Kirinari).
  • Ability to be physically active and engage with young people playing games/sport etc.
  • Ability to use computers and learn a variety of software/programs.
  • Hold a current Australian Driver's License.
