About Operations ServicesOperations Services is a key business unit within BHP Group, responsible for delivering industry-leading mining services across our Australian operations. Our team is focused on high-performance safety and productivity, and we prioritize the development of our people to drive business success.
About the RoleThe Superintendent Indigenous Support Liaison role is a critical position within Operations Services, responsible for assisting with the design and delivery of asset and site-based Indigenous workforce initiatives. This role will work closely with the Indigenous Engagement team to understand relationship requirements and facilitate engagement with Prescribed Bodies Corporate (PBCs), Traditional Owner corporations, and local communities.
Key Responsibilities- Work with Talent & Performance to identify and deploy appropriate support mechanisms across Australia for Operations Services Indigenous employees.
- Support Indigenous Support Liaison team members and assist with complex case management loads and escalated concerns requiring additional cultural and/or policy expertise.
- Align Operations Services KPIs and metrics to the Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) to identify opportunities for initiatives related to progress while ensuring compliance and reporting of Indigenous workforce across Operations Services.
- Play a lead role in the Indigenous Support Liaison community of practice across Minerals Australia.
- Ability to plan and deliver initiatives and culturally sensitive communications, preferably for Indigenous groups.
- Ability to lead teams for high performance, ensuring inclusivity while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Previous experience in a similar role in case management, advocacy, community is recommended but not mandatory.
- Relevant vocational, TAFE or University qualification(s) (e.g. HR/ER, healthcare, community development) is recommended but not mandatory.
- Understanding of and experience in the mining sector and BHP Group's operating environment is recommended but not mandatory.
This role will be based in Mackay on a Monday – Friday basis. Travel will be required to our regional sites as required.
