Job Description

This role is a rare opportunity for law students and recent graduates to gain structured, hands-on legal experience with one of Australia's most highly rated immigration law firms.

You will work closely with experienced practitioners, learning the essentials of file construction, workflow management, and professional communication, with a strong focus on drafting persuasive legal submissions.

The program provides practical training across multiple areas of immigration law, with a focus on preparing visa applications, drafting Administrative Review Tribunal (ART) review applications, and exploring and identifying jurisdictional errors in tribunal decisions.

Program Structure:

  1. Foundations of Practice: Learn the fundamentals of file construction, workflow management, and professional communication.
  2. Applications and Reviews: Gain practical experience in preparing visa applications, drafting ART review applications, and exploring jurisdictional errors.
  3. Practice Management and Advocacy: Develop skills in preparing invoices, managing fee collection, and understanding professional obligations when ceasing services.
  4. Advanced Merits Review (by invitation): Selected participants may progress to an advanced rotation focusing on merits review of immigration decisions under the direct supervision of the Practice Director.

Your supervisor, Nilesh Nandan, is a leading immigration lawyer with over 25 years of experience. He has advised the Australian Government as part of the Migration Advisory Group and mentored more than 70 junior practitioners.
