Role Overview

The Community Engagement Coordinator/Social Inclusion Coordinator will play a key role in reaching out to young people and the communities that support them, to provide health education, raise mental health literacy and community awareness, and link people to appropriate services. This role will involve developing, facilitating, and evaluating community events, health, and education programs designed to improve mental health literacy and community awareness of challenges faced by young people.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement community engagement strategies to promote mental health awareness and education
  • Collaborate with the clinical team to understand the services provided by headspace and advocate for these services to young people and the wider community
  • Plan, develop, and deliver high-quality education, training, and community awareness programs and activities
  • Work closely with stakeholders to identify and address the needs of young people and their families
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures to ensure the effective delivery of services
Requirements
  • Minimum of a Diploma qualification in youth work, mental health, or a related field
  • Experience in a similar role working with young people and communities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work with diverse stakeholders
  • Proven ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and effectively as a member of a team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Confidence in the use of IT, including social media applications and website maintenance
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to identify potential funding sources and write grant submissions
  • Eligibility to apply for a Working with Children Check (WWCC) and NDIS worker screening clearance
  • Current driver's license
