Job Description

The Aboriginal Family Support Worker is a crucial role in the community, providing vital support and engagement services to vulnerable families with young children in Alice Springs. This position requires a high level of cultural awareness, sensitivity, and understanding of local Aboriginal culture and history.

This role involves providing parenting and life skills support to families, developing and maintaining relationships with families and key stakeholders within the community, and working effectively with families who have complex needs.

Responsibilities include maintaining accurate records and data entry using a computer, communicating effectively with the Alice Springs Aboriginal community and extended family members, and demonstrating an understanding of an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service and Congress' services.

This role also requires possessing a good understanding of Central Australian Aboriginal Congress and its services, meeting the requirements for working with children, and holding a valid Ochre card.
