Job Title: Contract Officer

A key role within the RMC-E team, this Contract Officer will work under guidance from the EL1 Commercial Manager to provide contracting support for delivery of all RMC-E contractual services contributing to Royal Australian Navy vessel maintenance at Garden Island.

This position is a crucial part of ensuring the success of Defence's plans for surface fleet sustainment through Plan Galileo's ambitious reform program. Key deliverables include coordinating and scheduling maintenance for Navy vessels, building resilient local and regional supply chains, and overseeing the RMP-E team.

The ideal candidate will possess strong commercial experience, preferably within Defence maintenance, with expertise in developing and interpreting commercial and procurement documentation. Proficiency in advanced excel skills for complex cost-modelling worksheets is essential, as is effective prioritisation and teamwork skills.

Influencing, negotiating, and collaborating with stakeholders at all levels is critical, along with the ability to respond flexibly to changing situations. Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills are also vital, including emotional intelligence, resilience, and adaptability.
