Select Plant Hire provides a full-service offering through six major plant categories: Rail, Cranes, General Plant, Heavy/Civil Plant, Fleet, and Site Solutions (Buildings and Accommodation).

We are recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Fitter with Rail industry qualifications. The role will be based at our Select Plant Australia - Laverton Depot on a full-time basis.

The successful candidate will diagnose, fault-find, and repair equipment in a timely manner while providing effective customer service on site. You will be part of a dynamic team working in a collaborative environment.

To be considered for this position, you must hold the following minimum requirements:

  • RIW Card (Rail Industry Worker)
  • OHS Construction Card (White Card)
  • Rail Track experience
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening
  • Current Mechanical Trade Certificate or equivalent
  • Current Class C (or greater) Drivers Licence
  • Extra tickets an advantage
  • Current Test and Tag or willingness to obtain
  • Current Fire Extinguisher Test and Tag or willingness to obtain

  • Knowledge of statutory requirements relevant to the position
  • Willingness and ability to complete job-related training
  • Willingness to travel and participate in industry-based training to maximise technical knowledge of the asset base

This role requires:

  • Applying technical skills as per trade in all areas of work
  • Leading and contributing to Select Plant Australia's Zero Harm Philosophy
  • Developing and reviewing safe work practices, procedures, and work method statements
  • Small plant and equipment repairs and maintenance
  • Major and minor repairs to vehicles, plant, equipment, and machinery
  • Utilising and maintaining small items of plant, equipment, tools, and personal protective equipment and clothing
  • Contributing to the scheduling and maintenance of equipment to be maintained within service interval schedules
  • Willingness to travel to support remote projects
  • Vehicle, plant, equipment, and machinery testing
  • Maintenance and cleaning of facilities, tools, and equipment
  • Ensuring environmental compliance with workshop waste products, cleaning, etc.
  • Undertaking administrative responsibilities, including completion of standard workplace documentation within the required timeframes and to the required standard
  • Ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) and environmental requirements specific to the Branch

We offer an estimated annual salary of $80,000 - $110,000 depending on your experience and qualifications.
