Role Overview:

The Underwriter will be responsible for managing existing binders and driving new business development in the Casualty portfolio.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite single-risk Open Market opportunities, including new business, renewals, and endorsements.
  • Manage day-to-day referrals and oversee the renewal process for various binders.
  • Operate within delegated underwriting authority and escalate referrals with clear recommendations when required.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the Lloyd's of London model, including internal systems, premium booking, and credit control processes.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, such as Underwriting Support and Delegated Authority.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant underwriting files and documentation.
Required Skills and Qualifications

We are seeking an experienced Underwriter who possesses:

  • Proven underwriting experience in Casualty product lines, including General Liability, Primary, Umbrella, and Excess.
  • Prior experience managing binders or facilities is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute underwriting strategies, consistently meeting ambitious targets and KPIs.
  • Strong broker network across Australia, with the ability to generate new business and contribute to portfolio growth.
  • Willingness to collaborate on cross-class opportunities where they align with profitability goals.
