Teaching Career Opportunities

The Graduate Teacher Program offers a unique chance to develop teaching skills and become effective classroom practitioners. As a graduate teacher, you will be responsible for planning and implementing teaching programs or courses of study, teaching an area of the curriculum or a general curriculum to a year level, monitoring, evaluating and reporting student progress in key learning areas, and implementing strategies to achieve targets related to student learning outcomes.

You will also be responsible for maintaining records of class attendance and recording student progress, implementing effective student management consistent with school policies, and working with a mentor to participate in professional development planning, implementation and reflection developing a professional portfolio.

In addition, you may be required to supervise a range of student activities including support and welfare programs, contribute to co-curricular programs, and have completed course requirements and graduated within the last 4 years.

To be eligible for this position, applicants must currently be registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
