We are seeking a highly skilled Committee Secretary to join our parliamentary team. As a key member of our committee office, you will be responsible for providing expert administrative and procedural support to parliamentary committees.
Your primary focus will be on supporting committee consideration of proposed legislation, examining departmental performance, and undertaking inquiries into matters relating to portfolio areas of responsibility.
You will also be responsible for advising committees on parliamentary law, practice, and procedure, as well as planning and supporting committee hearings, consultations, and site visits.
Key Responsibilities:- Support committee consideration of proposed legislation and associated policy implications.
- Examine departmental performance, assessing integrity, economy, efficiency, and effectiveness.
- Undertake inquiries into matters relating to portfolio areas of responsibility or issues referred by the Legislative Assembly.
- Advise committees on parliamentary law, practice, and procedure.
- Plan and support committee hearings, consultations, and site visits.
- A relevant tertiary qualification.
- Demonstrated ability to research, analyse, and evaluate complex problems and develop strategic recommendations.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Proven ability to lead and manage small teams.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to facilitate consultation processes.
- A high level of attention to detail, accuracy, and professionalism.
- Knowledge of parliamentary processes and procedures, particularly relating to committees.
