Job Description

The Behaviour Support Officer is a vital role within our organisation, responsible for working closely with the Senior Behavioural Therapist to ensure that Behaviour Support Plans meet all legislative and organisational requirements.

This involves playing a key role in ensuring that Positive Rhythm meets the reporting requirements to the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, while also collaborating with internal PBS Practitioners on administrative tasks.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring behaviour support approaches comply with the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework and OH&S legislation.
  • Understanding how policies and procedures support participants with behaviour support needs.
  • Preparing monthly reporting from the NDIS Commission on the use of restrictive practices by Positive Rhythm as the implementing provider.
  • Ensure services are delivered within the framework of Positive Rhythm's policies and procedures, legislative requirements, and meet the relevant service standards.
  • Assist internal PBS Practitioners with administrative tasks including but not limited to collecting relevant information, researching best practice, providing reference to evidence-based research.
  • Check the portal for newly uploaded BSPs to ensure all restrictive practices and dates are correct.
  • Providing support to Senior Behavioural therapist regarding PBS plans, diary or use of restrictive practices as requested by the Senior Practitioner.
  • Conduct internal audits of therapist's files and provide feedback to Senior Practitioner.

Selection Criteria Desired

  • Experience providing services to people and children with disability with complex behaviour needs.
  • A working knowledge of the NDIS Commission Behaviour Support Rules and relevant disability legislation.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in high demand environments.
  • Strong communication skills including effective interpersonal, conflict negotiation and resolution skills.
  • Proven flexibility, adaptability and able to respond and adjust easily to change in work demands.
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in electronic records and data management tools.
  • Satisfactory completion of safety screening including a National Police check, International Police check (if required), a current ACT Working with Children Check (Employee), current Drivers Licence, and the right to work in Australia.

We offer a competitive hourly rate of $32.21 - $35.00 per hour, 7 weeks paid holiday yearly at set times, and the opportunity to work part-time with 2-3 days per week.
