Job Title

A PhD position is available at the University of Melbourne to contribute to a 3-year project focused on information extraction from the published scientific research literature.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop novel approaches to biochemical information extraction using deep learning.
  • Collaborate with industry experts to develop solutions with substantial practical applications.
  • Work under the direction of Associate Professor Karin Verspoor and Dr Trevor Cohn.
Requirements:
  • Strong undergraduate honours degree or Masters Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Understanding of machine learning and computational linguistics methods.
  • Interest in acquiring knowledge of the biochemical domain, or prior experience in biology or chemistry.
  • Prior research project experience.
  • Good communication and writing skills.
