Earth Science Technician Job Description

As a skilled Earth Science Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the development of geothermal projects worldwide. Your recent involvement in thermal response testing has contributed significantly to the efficiency and appeal of these projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtaining and preparing soil samples for analysis
  • Conducting thermal response tests to analyze the ground's thermal properties
  • Analyzing data
  • Surface and subsurface exploration (down to 2100m)
  • Writing and delivering detailed risk assessments, method statements, processes, and procedures
  • Advising on geological conditions, ensuring safe and effective project execution
  • Operating and overseeing drilling rigs and associated site operations
  • Collecting information and samples, preparing them for presentation in maps, charts, sketches, diagrams, and reports
  • Performing routine mathematical calculations and computations of measurements
  • Checking, calibrating, and maintaining test equipment to ensure optimal functionality
  • Participating in fabricating, installing, and modifying equipment to meet critical standards

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years work experience
  • Strong technical expertise in subsurface exploration, drilling operations, and thermal response testing
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data clearly and concisely

Qualifications:

  • White card
  • Geothermal Drilling qualification or Equivalent
  • Supervisor or site management qualification
  • Occupation health and safety qualification
  • First Aid Certification
  • License for Telehandler
  • License for Digger

Location: Melbourne Base

Salary: Competitive and based on experience
