Iluka Resources is a global leader in critical minerals, embarking on a pivotal era of growth with the deployment of cutting-edge underground mining technology. We are seeking an experienced Operational Support Specialist to join our team at our Balranald operation in regional south-western NSW.

About the Role:

  • The successful candidate will assist the Drill Operator for a HDD Maxi rig, performing labour tasks associated with Horizontal Directional Drilling and Mining operations.
  • Key responsibilities include joining instrumentation wires, manual handling tasks on the drill rig deck, loading pipes and rods, and washing drill pipe.
  • The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience operating HDD rigs and equipment, with a strong understanding of HDD techniques and procedures.
  • A good mechanical aptitude, proficiency in tracking and steering systems, and ability to interpret job plans and technical drawings are essential.
  • High Risk Work tickets, including Forklift, Front End Loader, Dogging & Rigging, and Excavator, are desirable.

About You:

  • Demonstrated experience operating HDD rigs and associated equipment.
  • Strong understanding of HDD techniques and procedures, including drilling, reaming, and pullback operations.
  • Proficient in the use of HDD tracking and steering systems to ensure accurate placement of utilities.
  • Ability to interpret job plans, technical drawings, and site conditions to execute work effectively.
  • Good mechanical aptitude.
  • Current driver's licence.
  • HT or HC license desirable.
  • High Risk Work tickets; Forklift, Front End Loader, Dogging & Rigging, Excavator.
