Casual Parenting Support Practitioner

Location: Melbourne, AU

About The Role

We are seeking a compassionate and driven individual to support families in strengthening relationships and improving communication between parents/carers and children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Co-facilitate evidence-based programs, workshops, webinars, parenting support groups, and playgroups for families.
  • Work under the general direction of the Children and Parenting Support Service Lead Practitioner and Team Leader to deliver programs that meet the needs of families.
  • Support families in a safe and culturally respectful manner to strengthen relationships and increase communication between parents/carers and children.

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience in a social service environment supported by demonstrated sector knowledge and skills, particularly in the areas of children and families, or family violence.
  • A degree qualification in social work, welfare, community development, or related field is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the current principles and practices related to child and adolescent development, including attachment theory.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify the main forms of child abuse and carer concerns as they relate to infants, children, and adolescents, and the wider family.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the theory of intersectionality and how different aspects of a person's identity can expose them to multiple levels and layers of discrimination and marginalisation.
  • A valid VIC Employee Working with Children Check.
  • A willingness to undergo a national police record and work eligibility check.
