About the Role

This is a senior leadership position within the Development Engineering Section at Central Coast Council. As a Principal Traffic and Transport Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical advice and guidance on traffic engineering principles for developments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of traffic engineers in assessing road safety and traffic impacts from developments
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to provide innovative solutions for the local community
  • Develop and implement traffic engineering plans and strategies to ensure safe and efficient transportation systems
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on traffic modeling, intersection design, and cost estimating for civil engineering works
  • Ensure compliance with relevant planning legislation and guidelines
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including developers, contractors, and community groups
Requirements
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience and qualifications
  • Current Class C Driver's Licence
  • Construction General Induction Card
  • Experience in assessing and reporting on traffic and parking matters
  • Experience in road traffic and intersection design, and assessment
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing complex traffic studies, traffic modeling, and cost estimating for civil engineering works
  • Experience working in Local Government
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
