Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Capital Works Project Manager to join our Contracts team in the Capital Delivery section. The successful candidate will be responsible for effective project management within the Capital Works Program.

This position also provides a support role, reviewing and developing works programs, contract procedures, and strategies.

  • Preparation of tender and contract documentation for allocated projects in the Capital Works Program.
  • Contribute to the development of contract management practices and procedures for service delivery.
  • Assist in the development of long and short-term plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide feedback and project data on completed works, ensuring 'as constructed' data is provided to the project owner.
  • Identify and resolve implementation problems with designs prior to contracting of works.
  • Develop 5-year sealed road resurfacing programs based on asset management data and operational requirements.
  • Provide information on project performance in a suitable format for distribution to staff, Councillors, and external customers.
  • Preparation of reports and presentations to Council.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Ability to effectively work in a team environment for the delivery of contract-managed capital works projects.
  • Experience in design, construction, and asset management.
  • Demonstrated high-level experience in preparing tender documentation, including technical specifications, general conditions of contract, and drawings.
  • Demonstrated high-level interpersonal and oral communication skills with the ability to relate at the appropriate level to staff, contractors, and community representatives.
  • Experience and a high-level understanding of project management (from a legal, civil, probity, and operational perspective).
  • High-level experience in managing contracts using relevant Australian Standards General Conditions of Contract.
