Culturally Sensitive Support Worker

Australian Unity is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Culturally Sensitive Support Worker to join our Aboriginal Home Health team in NSW. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander elders and community.
Job OverviewThis is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic team providing culturally appropriate in-home support to our aged Elders. As a Culturally Sensitive Support Worker, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality care and connecting with other members of the community.
Key Responsibilities- Provide domestic assistance such as cleaning, laundry, vacuuming, bed making, and meal preparation to our clients.
- Offer social support including accompanying clients to doctor appointments, shopping, and social outings.
- Perform personal care duties such as showering, feeding, and toileting, as well as assisting with oral medication.
- Maintain client safety practices and awareness through manual handling, driver awareness, social interactions, and ongoing training and support.
- A compassionate and empathetic individual with a genuine passion for working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- A current Australian Driver's Licence and ownership of a reliable insured vehicle.
- Vaccinated for COVID-19 (2 doses).
- Residency within 15-20km radius to ensure a convenient commute.
- A stable roster with opportunities to work extra hours based on client needs.
