About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced HR Business Partner to join our team at the NSW Department of Communities and Justice. As an HR Business Partner, you will play a critical role in providing strategic HR advice and support to managers at all levels, in various business units across the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide generalist HR advice and support to managers, including guidance on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Contribute to and support change management initiatives, including organizational design and development.
  • Support diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism initiatives, including developing and implementing strategies to promote a culture of inclusion.
  • Resolve workplace issues, including grievances and performance management.
  • Manage performance development and underperformance, including coaching and mentoring managers and employees.
  • Contribute to improving workplace culture, including developing and implementing strategies to promote a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Support the implementation of the Annual Performance Management Program, including developing and implementing performance management strategies.
  • Contribute to and support organizational and role design, including developing and implementing strategies to improve organizational effectiveness.
  • Manage case files and provide case management support to managers and employees.
Requirements
  • Qualifications in HR or a related discipline, and/or equivalent experience.
  • HR or relevant experience, preferably within the public sector or large, complex organizations.
  • Stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to develop strong partnering relationships with all levels of management.
  • Change management experience and/or a willingness to learn about organizational design.
  • Experience providing advice, coaching, and support to management and clients.
  • A people-centric approach to case management.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to present on a range of HR topics.
  • A collaborative style, with the ability to work with a range of stakeholders from different areas of the organization.
  • An understanding of legislative requirements and employee and industrial relations.
  • HR systems experience, with the ability to research and analyze information to make recommendations.
  • A high level of resilience, motivation, and perseverance.
