About the Role

The Department of Human Services SA is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Policy Advisor to join our Closing the Gap Policy and Transformation team. As a key member of our team, you will provide strategic policy advice and drive transformational change to implement the National Agreement on Closing the Gap within the Department and ultimately improve life outcomes for Aboriginal peoples, their families and communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and expert advice on policy, issues, trends and emerging research, and practices that affect Aboriginal people and services under Closing the Gap, particularly for children, youth, families and communities.
  • Collaborate with executives and other departmental leaders to drive strategy and service design focused on building the capacity and capability of the Aboriginal Community-Controlled Sector to deliver culturally led and responsive services, in particular across the Youth Justice Services and Community and Family Services divisions.
  • Support the delivery of commitments against the Closing the Gap Priority Reforms, particularly Priority Reform Two to build the Aboriginal community-controlled sector by driving change in Departmental policy, practices including grants reforms.
  • Build key relationships and successful partnerships with the community, non-government and government stakeholders and provide ongoing strategic advice to the Executive Leadership Team.

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent.
  • National Police Check required.
  • Employment-related Screening Check required.
