Job Title: Senior Network Transition Expert

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced engineer to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of NSW's electricity system.

This position requires a deep understanding of long-term strategic planning and near-term operational readiness, ensuring the network evolves with the energy sector's rapid transformation.

The Opportunity

You will lead technical modelling, analysis, and strategic recommendations to support the secure, reliable and efficient transition of the electricity transmission system for our organisation and its customers.

The focus is on the medium-term planning horizon, identifying and addressing challenges such as minimum operational demand, shifting generation and load patterns, and the timing of major transmission projects.

Your insights will inform executive and board-level decisions to safeguard system reliability and resilience and support national energy reform.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive medium-term transition plan
  • Conduct advanced power system analysis to support operational resilience and strategic decision-making
  • Identify system risks and collaborate with stakeholders to implement mitigation strategies
  • Prepare clear, concise reports and briefings for executives, boards, and non-technical audiences
  • Represent our organisation in industry forums and contribute to policy and reform initiatives
  • Mentor engineers and foster a high-performance, collaborative team culture
About You

You are a strategic and technically accomplished engineer with a deep understanding of electricity network operations and planning.

You thrive in complex, fast-evolving environments and are passionate about enabling Australia's energy transition.

Requirements:
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Extensive experience in power system modelling, planning, or operations
  • Strong knowledge of the National Electricity Market, National Electricity Rules, and energy reform initiatives
  • Proven track record of leading complex projects and delivering measurable outcomes
  • Excellent communication skills, engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience mentoring and developing engineering teams
  • Collaborative mindset and commitment to continuous improvement
