Job Description

Company Overview

Artefact is a leading heritage consultancy firm in NSW, providing archaeological, cultural heritage management and environmental assessment services. We work from regional offices in Bathurst and Newcastle and a head office on a heritage wharf overlooking Sydney Harbour.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage projects and lead small teams of consultants to complete projects on time and budget, to industry's best practice standards
  • Provide mentorship and training to junior staff
  • Complete and manage fieldwork-based assignments including site survey, archaeological monitoring, and test and salvage excavations
  • Manage preparation of heritage reports and advice
  • Maintain and grow client relationships through regular communication and preparation of proposals/tenders

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years full-time experience in the management of historical archaeology
  • Ideally hold Bachelor's degree with Honours in archaeology or relevant discipline in the field of historic heritage management
  • Demonstrated experience in completing heritage assessments and fieldwork
  • Have working knowledge of current heritage legislation and heritage best practice
  • Effective time management skills and experience in project management
  • Highly developed organisational skills to be able to meet competing priorities
  • Exceptional written and analytical skills
  • Possess the ability to build strong relationships with clients
