About the Role

The Public and Media Relations team is dedicated to enhancing Woolworths Group's brand and maintaining its status as Australia's most trusted retailer. The Media and PR Specialist will take the lead in managing both proactive and reactive media relations, collaborating with relevant departments within the Group as necessary.

This position will also assist the wider team with daily press inquiries through the media phone and inbox, as well as managing social media interactions and addressing issues as they arise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the creation and execution of communication strategies to effectively promote Woolworths Group initiatives.
  • Build and nurture relationships with key internal stakeholders to positively influence business decisions, thereby enhancing community trust and our reputation.
  • Articulate and communicate Woolworths Group's public positions externally, serving as a primary media contact.
  • Formulate proactive communication strategies that align with Woolworths Group's business objectives and specific portfolio areas.
  • Continuously monitor the media, stakeholder, and regulatory landscape to identify and communicate emerging opportunities and risks to key stakeholders.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in public relations, including media, influencer, and social media engagement.
  • Proven ability to develop comprehensive communication plans in response to business initiatives or issues.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills, with experience managing stakeholders and agencies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Experience in social media content management and issues resolution, with an understanding of both consumer and business audiences.
  • Solid knowledge of the Australian media landscape at national, state, and regional levels.
